From the Latin angelus in the 12th century and Old French angele in the 13th century, ‘angel’ was adopted from Greek angelos or aggelos which literally meant ‘messenger’. The religious context comes from the Hebrew mal akh that also means ‘messenger’ or intermediaries of God. Angel is probably Persian in origin, as the Sumerians described the winged genii and planets that traversed the night sky, as ‘wandering stars or messengers’.

This means that symbolic image of a winged deity with a glowing halo is a representation of a celestial object moving independently in front of a fixed field of stars. These are planets which seem to speak to us through their movements and our ancestors have spent the last 20,000 years attempting to decipher their actions and interpret their meaning. In truth we as human beings are merely attempting to project our existence upon something we perceive as divine.

FISH SYMBOL

This symbol has got to be the most misunderstood and overly commercialized religious icon in the world. You see the fish on business cards and on bumper stickers. It has become the mascot and the mantra of Christian radio stations that play programmed propaganda in the form of mediocre music for the mind numbed masses that listen and buy the product that Christianity has become.

 And let's not forget the glut of fish emblems on automobiles? Some even have a “TRUTH” fish swallowing a walking Darwin fish. Do these religious fanatics know truth, or just their version of the truth? First, no one can know the mind of God, let alone speak for God. Second, no one has exclusive right to the truth.

Anyone who thinks they do is engaging in religious totalitarianism, like Osama bin Laden. So let’s examine this pagan symbol that possesses the Christians.

Beyond the traditional stories of Christians using the symbol of the fish to mark meeting places and tombs, or to distinguish friends from foe in the first centuries after Christ, a more accurate and unbiased explanation has come to light.

To explain, let’s start with the accepted translation of the name Jesus Christ, or in Greek, Ichthys Christos. Ichthys - Iesous Christos Theou Yios Sote - is an acronym for “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.” The Greek word for ‘fish’ is ikhthus and Christos translates to ‘king.’ Thus, the holy name of Jesus Christ literally translates as ‘Fish King.’ In Latin, fish or ‘piscis’ comes from the heavenly sign Pisces; and King or ‘Rex,’ translates to ‘descendent of a noble race.’ This why we sometimes hear Jesus referred to as the “Fisher-king” or “King of the Piscean Age.”

Other evidence of a celestial connection comes from the zodiac itself. Across from Pisces/Jesus, sits Mary his mother, Virgo the “Celestial Virgin.” Christian mythology holds that a great celestial event occurred in the sky to herald his coming. The Magi, astronomer priests, followed a star to crown the newborn king of the New Age.
As a teacher, the new King of Heaven, would travel throughout the land, educating all that would listen to his New Age vision of peace. He chose twelve disciples, like the twelve signs of the sky, to further illustrate the astronomical sacredness of his New Age message to the masses. At the displeasure of the Jewish High Priests, he taught and broke bread with the unclean and common people, believing that all were equal under the sun and in the eyes of God.

By the fourth century of the Common Era, the Christians’ influence was firmly established and their new Sun god was well established. It was now that the Roman Emperor Constantine went through a ‘conversion’ that at first was pagan in nature. It seems that he had a vision of a well-known Sun god “Invictus,” the “Invincible Sun.”

This pagan Sun god was the deity of the state religion and although this theology contained elements of other celestial deities, it was basically monotheistic. In fact, it was the Emperor’s role to act as chief priest of this state religion and his reign was a “Sun Emperorship.” Early Christians saw in Jesus, their savior, the “Light of the World,” the “Sun of Righteousness,” and the “Sun of Justice,” or as the prophet Simeon called him, the “Light of the Gentle Ones” as he became the new solar deity. The Sun of God.

All of the symbols of mythology refer to YOU. Have YOU been reborn? Have YOU died to your animal nature and come to life as a human incarnation?
